Before living in Fort
Collins, Bill Walter III was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida
where he spent his teenage years as a life-guard. He was a devoted husband
and a fun-loving father of two small children. In January 1995 Bill was
diagnosed with level 5 melanoma. Through several hospitalizations,
surgeries and experimental treatments, he lost his life on November 18,
1998 at the young age of 36.
Bill's positive attitude lives on
in hearts of those who are trying to help melanoma patients find the best
possible treatments, in hopes of finding a cure. The Bill Walter III
Melanoma Research Fund was founded by Bill's friends and family to focus
on raising the awareness on the dangers of exposure to the sun.
